Best Feeds Garden Centers - Home of the 5-Year Tree Guarantee.

At Best Feeds we understand today's economic environment and we work to give you the most value for your garden center dollar.  To help you extend that value, we have partnered with MYKE Growth Supplement Products to offer you a 5 Year Guarantee on all shrubs and trees purchased at our garden centers and planted with MYKE Tree & Shrub Supplement.  What is MYKE?  It is a 100% natural, beneficial microscopic fungi that associates itself with the feeder roots of plants to create a network of filaments in the soil, transporting water and nutrients to the roots.  This is a symbiotic relationship - both organisms benefit.  This fungus-plant alliance accelerates root development and stimulates plant growth. MYKE is easy to use and safe for the environment.

The plan is simple... work with you Best Feeds consultant to select a tree or shrub right for your growing conditions, follow our planting instructions, water, fertilize and watch it grow!  Be sure to save your original proof of purchase.  See use for more details and the planting guide.

Just a few of the trees currently in stock are listed below.

'Forest Pansy' is a purple-leaved cultivar of the popular Missouri native redbud tree. It is a small, deciduous, understory tree with a spreading, flat-to-rounded crown. Can eventually grow to 20-30' tall. Trunk usually divides somewhat close to the ground. Clusters of tiny, rose-purple, pea-like flowers bloom profusely on the branches and mature trunks for 2-3 weeks in early spring (March-April) before the foliage emerges. Flowers tend to be darker and more purplish than the species. Heart-shaped leaves open bright reddish-purple and gradually mature to a more muted purple (or purplish green in hot summer climates). Pendulous, flat, bean-like, 2-4" long seed pods resembling snow peas appear in late spring after flowering. Fall color is variable, but often includes attractive shades of reddish-purple and orange.

Weeping Lavender Twist Redbud - This impressive tree, also known as 'Covey', takes the beautiful deep pink spring blossoms and attractive deciduous foliage of our native redbud and displays them on its weeping form. Lavender Twist® reaches 6 to 8 feet tall and 8 to 10 feet wide and makes a great specimen plant near walkways, foundation plantings, or patios.
Noteworthy characteristics: This tree is a weeping form of our native redbud. It has a striking silhouette with pretty flowers and attractive foliage. Care: Provide full sun to part shade and moist, but well-drained soil.

If you've ever seen 'Merrill' magnolia in full bloom, you understand why the plant receives such universal acclaim. Each flower has between 10-17 white tepals (colorful, sterile, petal-like parts of a flower) with just a hint of pink at their base, and from a distance, the tree is a blizzard of white. In general, magnolias perform best when situated in full sun or very light shade.

'Jane' Magnolia Reddish purple flowers are white on the inside and appear before the foliage on this deciduous magnolia. The foliage is dark green and glossy. Jane grows as a broad-rounded shrub.

Japanese Maple - Scarlet Red, Crimson Queen, or Burgandy Lace; these maples are outstanding landscape plants. Almost a guaranteed success in any landscape if sited and cultured properly. Many cultivars have become a passion for gardeners.  Probably one of the most flexible maple species as far as landscape uses; magnificent specimen, accent plant, shrub border, grouping, bonsai; definitely lends an artistic and aristocratic touch.

'Burgundy Lace’- turns purple-bronze-green in summer, the sinuses are cut almost to the point of attachment of the blade to the petiole and each lobe is finely serrated and cut along the margins; leaves average 4" long by 3 1/2" wide; usually a small tree about 10 to 12' high and 12 to 15' wide.
