So, when is the best time to apply each step? 

If snow is not covering the ground spread step 1 - Crabgrass Preventer plus Green-up Lawn Fertilizer, in late march or early April depending on the weather. Here is a tip to remember the approximate correct time to spread each step of the four step lawn care program products. Use these holidays as your guide:

Step # 1 - Easter
Step # 2 - Mothers day
Step # 3 - July 4th
Step # 4 - Labor Day.

Deer Control

Remember, the deer are thinking about your yard too!  It's time to apply animal repellent to those tender leaves and shrubs.  Deer Scram is a glandular repellent that lasts up to 6 weeks and can be applied to the boarder of the garden.  Repellent such as Liquid Fence are applied directly to the foliage of plants and deter animals by their unpleasant taste.  Liquid repellent must be reapplied after heavy rains.

Whatever method is used, granular or liquid, they must be rotated.  Eventually, the deer will not be deterred by a single method.
